Amber Heard, who lost the domestic violence defamation lawsuit, has recently repeatedly claimed that she would appeal again. She first filed a motion, questioning whether one of the jury members had falsified his identity and that the judgment made by the unqualified member affected the verdict, and asked the court to retrial, but the motion was rejected by the judge not long after. Heard, whose request for retrial was not granted, has now formally filed an appeal and insisted on continuing to prove her innocence. Recently, Heard's lawyers filed a notice of intent to appeal with the Fairfax County Court in Virginia, USA. Heard's spokesperson said: "We believe that the court made a mistake, and this mistake led to an unfair judgment that violated the First Amendment, so we appealed the judgment. Although we are well aware that the documents filed today will ignite a war online, we need to take some measures to ensure fairness and justice." A spokesperson for Johnny Depp also responded: "The jury heard extensive evidence presented during a six-week trial and returned a clear and unanimous verdict that the defendant personally defamed Mr. Depp on multiple occasions. We remain confident in this case and believe the verdict will stand." It is said that Amber Heard has not yet paid the $8.3 million required for the appeal according to local laws in Florida. If the appeal process is to proceed, this fee issue will have to be resolved, but to start the appeal process like now, it only costs $500. According to legal experts, Heard has invested more than $3 million in legal fees and $200,000 in expert fees in this lawsuit. |
