Nintendo confirms live-action Zelda movie won't be released until 2030

In the next five years, The Legend of Zelda will appear on the big screen in the form of a live-action movie.

In Nintendo's second quarter financial report for fiscal year 2025, the company gave planned dates for future adaptations of its IP into movies, showing that the next "Mario" movie will be released in 2026, while the live-action "Zelda" movie has been given a vague "202X" date, which means it will be released before 2030.

As for the 2026 Mario movie, the official description states that it will be a new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros. and will be released on April 3, 2026.

The live-action Zelda movie was first announced a year ago and will be produced by Nintendo and Sony Pictures, with Wes Ball, the director of War for the Planet of the Apes, in charge. The director said he hopes to pursue the "live-action Hayao Miyazaki style" in this movie and make it feel like a real work.
