The Hunger Games prequel 'The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes' to be released next November

Recently, Lionsgate announced that the prequel to "The Hunger Games", "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes", will be released in North America on November 17, 2023. It is adapted from the original author's new book of the same name, "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes".

The four films of The Hunger Games have grossed a total of about $3 billion worldwide. Last year, Lionsgate announced that Francis Lawrence, the director of the series, will return to direct the prequel, but the cast has not yet been revealed. The film is based on the novel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by the original author Suzanne Collins, and was written by Michael Arndt (Inside Out, Toy Story 3).

The story of "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" is set several years before Coriolanus Snow became the tyrant president of Panem. At the age of 18, Snow is handsome and charming. Although his family is in a difficult situation, he sees an opportunity to change his destiny: he is chosen to be a mentor for the Tenth Hunger Games. But his joy is shattered when he is sent to mentor a girl from the impoverished 12th District.
