The biggest suspense of the second season of The Last of Us is still unrevealed

We're getting closer to the premiere of The Last of Us Season 2, and HBO is starting to slowly lift the veil on some of the big cliffhangers we can expect. No, HBO's latest trailer doesn't reveal "the big cliffhanger" (if you understand, you know what I'm talking about), but it does hint at some of the most iconic (and controversial) scenes from the game The Last of Us Part II, which the season is based on.

Trailer:

Some notable scenes from the games we saw in the trailer include Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Dina (Isabela Moner) dancing in Jackson before the story's major instigating events, Ellie interrogating Nora (Tati Gabriel) in Seattle as part of her revenge mission, and what looks like Ellie discovering the truth about Joel's killing spree against the Fireflies in Salt Lake City at the end of Season 1. This last scene is significant because Ellie's knowledge of these events has been somewhat of a mystery throughout The Last of Us Part II, and it seems to take place in the Jackson settlement where they live together, rather than at the scene of the crime as in the game. It's unclear if the HBO series will follow the same flashback narrative structure as The Last of Us Part II, but given that these trailers show quite a bit more than the game showed before its release (in fact, the game even faked some scenes in promotional materials to hide a major plot point), it doesn't look like the series is as concerned with keeping certain plot points secret as the 2020 game was.

The Last of Us Season 2 will premiere on Max on April 13.
