"Squirrel Fight: Rescue Commando" is a comedy film for adults, a sequel to the classic 90s cartoon "Squirrel Fight", and is now available on the Disney+ platform. Similar to movies such as "Ready Player One" and "Detective Pikachu", "Squirrel Fight: Rescue Commando" absorbs many elements of otaku culture. But among these elements, there is one that has aroused doubts from movie fans and game players. According to feedback from netizens on Twitter, one element of the film directly plagiarized the work drawn by "Kingdom Hearts" players. In a scene in Squirrel Fight: Rescue Commando, the collected evidence is hung on the wall for display. We can see various plastic bags hanging on the wall, which are filled with props related to different animation characters. For example, the tail of Detective Pikachu, the hair of the genius boy Jimmy, the beard of Sam, and the nose of the Pink Panther. Players who are familiar with these characters can easily identify the corresponding characters from the items in the evidence bags. Among them, the hair of Sora, the protagonist of the game Kingdom Hearts, attracted the attention of players. Some sharp-eyed players found that this hairstyle was not from the official setting of Kingdom Hearts, and it was not as exaggerated as the hairstyle in the game. After comparison, players found that Sora's hairstyle in Squirrel Fight: Rescue Commando was actually directly copied from the work of Dutch artist Kimbolie12. In the movie, Sora's hair was only retouched by the scene lighting effects. Apart from the color tone, it was basically cut from Kimbolie12's work. Moreover, Kimbolie12's name was not included in the film's credits. Disney, which is famous for its anti-infringement efforts, was also accused of infringement this time. The reason for this is unclear, as it should be the easiest thing for Disney to get the art for Kingdom Hearts. It is very likely that the film studio mistook Kimbolie12's work as an official picture and used it directly, resulting in this result. |
