Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft Renewed Two Weeks After Release

Starting a new show on Netflix is always a gamble. The streaming platform has a habit of canceling series even when they're highly rated and well-loved by viewers. There rarely seems to be any rhyme or reason to it. However, today we learned that Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft will be getting a second season.

The animated series, which stars Hayley Atwell as the voice of Lara Croft, has been renewed for a second season just two weeks after the eight episodes were added to the platform.

The show's Metascore is a middling 65, with ratings ranging from 5 to 10. On Rotten Tomatoes, it's a slightly higher 73%, but that's certainly not indicative of rave reviews from critics.

Netflix described the plot of season two:

When adventurer Lara Croft (voice of Atwell) discovers a clue to a stolen shipment of African Orisha masks, she teams up with her best friend Sam (voice of Karen Fukuhara) to recover these precious artifacts. Lara's exciting new adventure takes her around the world as she delve deeper into the hidden secrets of Orisha's history, evading the machinations of a dangerous and mysterious billionaire who wants the masks for himself, while Lara discovers that these artifacts contain dark secrets and a power that defies logic. In fact, that power may be divine.

In addition, the main voice actors will still return in the second season.
