Sam Hui was selected as the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 40th Hong Kong Film Awards. Known as the "King of Comedy", Sam Hui created a new trend in Hong Kong films in the 1970s with his own classic comedy films that he wrote, directed and starred in. His first film, "The Ghostly Trio" in 1974, broke the 6 million mark, breaking the Hong Kong box office record for both Chinese and Western films; "The 1976 film "The 80s" set another record with more than 8 million; "The Bodyguard" in 1981 broke his own Hong Kong box office record for the third time with a box office of more than 17 million, and also helped him win the Best Actor Award at the first Hong Kong Film Awards in 1982. After the 1980s, Sam Hui began to collaborate more with other directors, creating hits such as "Detective Chocolate", "Chicken and Duck Talk", "Family Fun", and "Money Grabbing Couple".
