The K-series TRPG adaptation crowdfunding animation "NAKED PEAK" announced that the producer's plan to restart was cancelled

The animated film project "NAKED PEAK" led by Madaraushi is adapted from his personally created TRPG "NAKED PEAK: At the Mountain of Madness", which is naturally based on the Cthulhu mythology novel "NAKED PEAK" published by "Craftsman" Lovecraft in 1936.

The project initially launched its first crowdfunding in October 2021, successfully obtaining approximately 120 million yen in funding from 11,000 backers, and released a 4.5-minute pilot trailer at the end of February 2023. At the same time, the second round of crowdfunding was also launched, which received more than 200 million yen in funding from more than 17,000 people.

The producer Madaraushi recently announced that since the studios originally scheduled to participate in the animation production announced their withdrawal in September 2024, the production structure, financing plan and other arrangements of the animation project have all become a "blank sheet of paper", and the project had to be terminated. At the same time, refunds will be provided to the second crowdfunding participants who intend to retrieve their funds.

However, Madaraushi has not completely given up on the production of the "NAKED PEAK" animated film. Although the industry believes that "mountaineering themes, Cthulhu mythology, and TRPG are too niche and difficult to understand", the producer still plans to recruit personnel to restart the project and plans to hand over the project to its own studio Forest Limit LLC. to complete the pre-production, and at the same time set a goal to complete the pre-production content such as planning to storyboard scripts before the end of 2025.
