Warner Bros.' Batman is now in theaters around the world and has already broken box office records. The new film opened a day early in international markets and even earlier, and it set a record for the biggest opening for a Warner Bros. film: $5.3 million. The Batman is now also the second-biggest first-day opening for a Batman film internationally since The Dark Knight Rises. The film opens in the US today (March 4). According to Deadline, The Batman debuted in South Korea on Tuesday, earning $1.7 million. On Wednesday, the film also opened in France ($1.4 million), Sweden ($414,000), Indonesia ($362,000), and Belgium ($193,000). In some territories, The Batman surpassed The Dark Knight and Dune. Globally, The Batman is off to a strong start this weekend. It is expected to bring in as much as $245 million in its opening to help reignite the sluggish box office in theaters. |
