"The New Batman" has broken Warner's first-day box office record after its release in many countries overseas

Warner Bros.' Batman is now in theaters around the world and has already broken box office records. The new film opened a day early in international markets and even earlier, and it set a record for the biggest opening for a Warner Bros. film: $5.3 million.

The Batman is now also the second-biggest first-day opening for a Batman film internationally since The Dark Knight Rises. The film opens in the US today (March 4).

According to Deadline, The Batman debuted in South Korea on Tuesday, earning $1.7 million. On Wednesday, the film also opened in France ($1.4 million), Sweden ($414,000), Indonesia ($362,000), and Belgium ($193,000). In some territories, The Batman surpassed The Dark Knight and Dune.

Globally, The Batman is off to a strong start this weekend. It is expected to bring in as much as $245 million in its opening to help reignite the sluggish box office in theaters.
