Manga master Mizushima Shinji passed away. His masterpiece baseball manga "Big Eater"

Manga master and author of "The Big Eater" Shinji Mizushima died of pneumonia in a hospital in Tokyo, Japan on the 10th of this month at the age of 82.

Shinji Mizushima was born in Niigata, Japan. He debuted as a cartoonist in 1958 and has published works with baseball as the theme. Among them, the baseball comic "Big Eater" which he serialized in 1972 was his representative work that lasted for more than 10 years. The serialization of the comic ended in 2018. The single-volume series has accumulated more than 205 volumes and has been read by many readers across generations.

In addition, Sega released a baseball game called "Battle Professional Baseball Mizushima Shinji All-Stars VS Professional Baseball" in 2003, which was launched on PS2 and NGC platforms. In the game, all 35 comic characters written by Mizushima Shinji appeared.

On December 1, 2020, Mizushima Shinji announced his retirement, and this was his obituary about a year later.
