In an interview with foreign media, Noah Hawley, producer of the American TV series "Alien", revealed the progress of preparations, saying that the story will mainly take place on Earth, and there will be not only aliens but also thoughts about artificial intelligence. According to the plan, the series will start shooting this spring. "The story is set on Earth in the future. In the movie, Weyland Corporation dominates cyborg/AI technology. If, in the TV series, there is another company that is also developing technologies such as mechanical enhancement and consciousness extraction that allow humans to live forever, the competition between the two will be like the battle between Edison and Tesla over direct current and alternating current. Who will win the future?" Hawley pointed out that the reason why the "Alien" series is so popular with audiences is not just because of the scary monsters, but also because of the theme that artificial intelligence may kill humans. "Sigourney Weaver's Ripley once said in Alien 2, 'I don't know which creature is more terrifying, at least they (aliens) won't kill each other.' 60% of the drama is still a horror movie, and the remaining 40% is a reflection on human survival." Hawley had previously stressed that the American TV series would not feature Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver, and that the story would not be limited to confined spaces such as prisons and spaceships. FX announced the project at the end of 2020, and Ridley Scott, the director of the 1979 version, will also serve as producer. |
