Marvel talks about Hawkeye's transition from a movie to a TV series to explore deeper background

Marvel's new TV series "Hawkeye" will be broadcast on Disney+ on November 24. Hawkeye first appeared in the MCU as a guest star in the movie "Thor" as an agent who secretly protected the SHIELD agent who was researching Thor's hammer. He became well-known for his official debut as the first generation of Avengers in "The Avengers". As one of the six first generation superheroes of the Avengers in the MCU, Hawkeye is also the only character who has not had an independent movie so far, but Marvel has made a TV series for this character who became a superhero through his own hard work. In a recent interview, Marvel gave the purpose of doing so.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hawkeye TV series producer Trinh Tran explained why Hawkeye was ultimately adapted into a TV series. She explained that this gave them the flexibility to explore the character because they had the time and space to do so. It was for this reason that the decision was made to move Hawkeye from the big screen to Disney+.

Prior to this, Marvel President Kevin Feige confirmed that Hawkeye will have a personal movie, but in the end, what fans are waiting for is a TV series. Trinh Tran explained the importance of turning the project into a TV series, which depends entirely on how many stories they have to tell. How to control so much content within a two-hour time frame is a big problem. Trinh Tran said that the team has not yet explored its backstory. Therefore, the production team must also introduce a new character, Kat Bishop, and leave enough time for them to establish a connection and create the special charm that the two have shown in the comics.

Although Kate Bishop (played by Hailee Steinfeld) is well known to comic book fans, the Hawkeye TV series marks her debut in the MCU. Here, the character is a self-taught archer and Hawkeye fan who disguised herself as Ronin and appeared in Avengers: Endgame, thus catching the attention of Clint Barton.

With so much backstory to cover, it makes sense for Marvel to develop Hawkeye into a TV series rather than a movie, and given the huge success of WandaVision and other MCU shows, they're committed to this plan.

Tran said that Hawkeye will be turned into a TV series, which will give the production team six hours, three times the time to explore the background of the story, which does give them the creative flexibility they need to tell the story. But challenges also come with it. Marvel has a schedule, and the team tries to keep the same schedule in movies and TV series. But things happen faster in TV series, so the team must complete three times the content in a shorter time span.
