Universal Pictures has long tried to launch its "Dark Universe" full of monsters through movies such as "The Mummy" and "The Invisible Man". Although the plan was about to go bankrupt when "The Mummy" starring Tom Cruise did not perform well at the box office, they did not stop making more monster movies. The latest one is "The Wolfman". According to Variety, the starring actor and director of "The Wolf Man" have been finalized. Previously, Universal Pictures had planned to have Leigh Whannell, the director of "The Invisible Man" in 2020, direct the film, but he later withdrew due to scheduling conflicts. The new director is Derek Cianfance, and the starring actor is Ryan Gosling. The two had worked together in the 2010 film "Blue Valentine". Director Derek Cianfance said in an official statement: "Horror movies were my first love and my introduction to the narrative, psychological and aesthetic capabilities of film. Plus, to work with Ryan again, this is truly a dream come true. I'm so excited and inspired to work with the amazing people at Blumhouse and Universal Pictures to bring this monster to life again." |
