Epic is considering making a Fortnite movie

According to foreign media The Information, Epic Games is considering making a "Fortnite" movie. The site broke the news that Epic is discussing the establishment of an entertainment department to focus on scripted video projects.

The Information quoted sources as saying that Epic is considering exploring new ways to grow its brand as its mobile gaming space has been restricted due to legal battles with Apple and Google.

Epic hired several Lucasfilm executives last year, including new president of special projects Jason McGatlin, who was previously vice president of physical production at Lucasfilm and executive producer of all Star Wars films released by Disney.

Apple recently said it would not consider returning Fortnite to its App Store until its legal battle with Epic is over, which could take several years.

Epic is appealing the ruling in its antitrust lawsuit against Apple Inc. Last month, a judge ruled against nine of the 10 counts filed by Epic.

Epic has also sued Google over the removal of Fortnite from its Play Store, but that case has not yet gone to trial.
