The original plan to launch "King Kong River" in South Korea was strongly resisted by the South Korean side and postponed indefinitely

According to Korean media reports, the Korean War-themed film "King Kong River" originally scheduled to be released on Korean IPTV on September 16 will be postponed indefinitely. Currently, right-wing Korean filmmakers have strongly protested to the distribution company that provides content to the IPTV platform, and the IPTV platform also feels deeply burdened by this, so the Korean importer of the film, Wisdom Film, has decided to postpone the distribution service indefinitely.

"King Kong River" was directed by Guan Hu, Guo Fan, and Lu Yang, starring Zhang Yi, Wu Jing, Li Jiuxiao, Wei Chen, and Deng Chao. It was released in China on October 23, 2020, and earned 1.126 billion yuan at the box office. This film was made to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers' War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, telling the heroic deeds of the volunteer soldiers who fought tenaciously with their flesh and blood in the face of a huge disparity in strength between the enemy and us.
