Amazon's fantasy drama "The Wheel of Time" officially announced that it will be broadcast in November. The drama is starred by Rosamund Pike, Daniel Hennie ("Criminal Minds"), Madeline Madden (Australian version of "Picnic at Hanging Rock"), Joshua Stradowski ("Good Friends"), Marcus Rutherford ("Obedience"), Barney Harris ("Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk"), Zoe Robbins ("Power Rangers: Steel Ninjas") and others also starred. The series is based on Robert Jordan's classic fantasy novel series of the same name, which is extremely complex, with 2,782 named characters. The Wheel of Time is set in a world ruled by women, where only women can use magical powers. Rosamund Pike plays Moiraine, a member of the all-female organization Aes Sedai, who embarks on an adventure with five young people, among whom is a "reincarnated true dragon" who can both save the world and destroy it. "The Wheel of Time" was originally going to be adapted into a movie in 2009, but the project was shelved; later Universal also bought the copyright of the original novel, and finally it came into the hands of Amazon. |
