The Drago Empire, led by Empress Zahra, who has been resurrected in the present day, attacks humanity. Humanity faces an unprecedented crisis as the Drago Empire's Demon Dragon Warriors, against whom no earthly weapons are effective, fight. Ougaken, a sixth grade boy, follows his grandfather's words and holds up the lion-shaped birthmark that has appeared on his right palm to the sky. In response to Ken's cry of "Liger!", the bio-armor Liger appears. Ken rides on Liger and repels the Demon Dragon Warriors. However, this was only the first step in a long and painful battle with the Drago Empire. ■ExplanationWritten by Nagai Go and with planning assistance from Dynamic Production, this work incorporates the essence of traditional robot stories while aiming to break new ground. The "Bio Armor" that appears in this work is controlled by humans and functions as a giant with immense power, unfolding in battle. However, since it is a living organism and not a machine, purple blood spurts out when it is injured. The intention was to have viewers associate it with "pain" in order to make them feel the reality of the action scenes and the tragedy of battle more deeply. ■Cast

■Detailed evaluation and recommendationJushin Liger is a TV anime series that aired from 1989 to 1990 and was produced by Sunrise based on the original work by Go Nagai. The story is set in a world at the end of the century and depicts the brave battles of a young boy named Ougaken and his friends as they fight against the Dragon Warriors of the Drago Empire. This work went beyond the boundaries of traditional robot anime and gave viewers a fresh surprise by introducing a new concept called bio-armor. The biggest feature of Jushin Liger is the presence of a living robot called Bio Armor. While in most robot anime, mechanical robots often take on the lead role, Jushin Liger uses a living Bio Armor, emphasizing the reality and tragedy of the battles. In particular, the scene in which purple blood spurts out when the Bio Armor is damaged reminds viewers of "pain," making the horror of the battle feel more real. This is what sets it apart from other robot anime, and left a strong impression on viewers. The story's development is also very fascinating. Following his grandfather's words, the protagonist, Daikibaken, summons his bio-armor Liger by holding up the lion-shaped birthmark on his right palm to the sky. This scene leaves a strong impression on viewers and is a very memorable beginning to the story. Furthermore, as the battle with the Drago Empire progresses, the growth and friendship of Ken and his companions, as well as their confrontations with the enemy, are depicted, drawing viewers in. In particular, as can be seen from the subtitles of each episode, each story is very dramatic and never tires of the viewer. The cast is also very impressive, with Mayumi Tanaka playing the role of Ougaken, expressing the boyish purity and courage of the protagonist. Veteran voice actors such as Ritsuo Sawa, Naoko Matsui, and Miki Ito also play supporting roles, helping to liven up the story. In particular, the powerful performance of Tanka Arima as Empress Zara left a strong impression on viewers. The main staff was also impressive, and the fact that it was produced by Sunrise based on the original work by Go Nagai ensured that the quality of the story was kept high. The designs by Yoshihisa Uchida, who was in charge of character design, and Yukihiro Makino, who was in charge of bio-armor design, were visually very appealing and drew in viewers. Director Norio Kashima's direction was also superb, smoothly progressing the development of the story and keeping viewers from getting bored.
