Yume Kikuchi, a second-year high school student, came to Tokyo from Tono in Iwate Prefecture to receive training to become an official magician. Both of her parents were magicians, so it was only natural that she wanted to become a magician herself.
However, she only has vague thoughts like "I want to use good magic" and "I want to use magic that will benefit people," and it seems she does not yet understand what is truly important for a wizard.

What kind of magician will Yume grow into as she interacts with her instructor Oyamada and the clients during her month of training?

Important Things for Magical Girls SOMEDAY's DREAMERS - Review and Recommendation

"Someday's Dreamers" is a TV anime series that aired in 2003 and is based on the manga of the same name by Norie Yamada. This work is a heartwarming story about human relationships and personal growth against the backdrop of the fantasy element of magic. Below, we will explain in detail the appeal and features of this work, as well as the recommended points.

The appeal of the story

The main character, Yume Kikuchi, comes to Tokyo from Tono, Iwate Prefecture to undergo training as a magician. Her parents are also magicians, and Yume herself has a pure desire to use magic to help people. However, she does not understand the true meaning and responsibilities of being a magician, so she gains various experiences and grows through her training.

The appeal of this story lies in the process in which Yume touches people's hearts by using magic and makes them reexamine their own values and goals. Each episode depicts the worries and wishes of her clients, and Yume's efforts to solve them are moving. In particular, the joys and pains that come from using magic, as well as the sense of responsibility that comes with it, are realistically portrayed, leaving a deep impression on viewers.

Character Appeal

The characters, including Yume, are also a big part of the show's appeal. Yume has a bright and honest personality, but she can also be a bit clumsy, making her a character you'll want to root for as she grows. Her instructor, Oyamada Masami, is a gentle-spoken man with a mature charm, and plays an important role in supporting Yume's growth. Many episodes are set in his salsa bar, and his interactions with Yume bring smiles to viewers' faces.

Other characters with unique personalities include Angela, Ginpun, Kera, and Milinda. Angela in particular has a proud and unsociable personality, but her magical abilities are outstanding, and she adds excitement to the story as a contrast to Yume. Each character's background and feelings are carefully depicted, making it fun to follow their growth and changes.

Production Features

This work is an animation produced by Viewworks and JCSTAFF, and directed by Masami Shimoda. Character design is by Michinori Chiba, and the chief animation director is Keiko Kawashima. The work is characterized by beautiful visuals and detailed drawings. In addition, the colorful backgrounds by art director Junichiro Nishikawa and colorist Miyuki Ishida also add to the atmosphere of the story.

Music is also an important element, and the background music by Takeshi Hatakeda plays a role in enhancing the emotion of the story. In particular, the opening theme "Kaze no Hana" (sung by Hana*Hana) and the ending theme "UNDER THE BLUE SKY" (sung by the Indigo) have beautiful melodies that symbolize the theme of the work and resonate in the hearts of viewers.
