■ Story

I'm in despair! I'm in despair at this rotten society!!

Itoshiki Nozomu is a young man who can only see everything in a negative light. His name, which sounds very sad when written side by side, is a troublesome person who says he is "in despair" and wants to die every time something happens, but is unable to truly die. The second-year class at the school where Nozomu is assigned is a class where there are many more troublesome people than Nozomu. What kind of ripples will Nozomu's teachings, which are endlessly pessimistic, cast on the lives of such students? Conversely, how will Nozomu be influenced by his students?

[Zan・] Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei Bangaichi - Zan・Sayonara Zatsubou Sensei Bangaichi Review and Recommendation

"Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei Bangaichi" is an OVA based on Koji Kumeta's popular manga "Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei". The first volume was released on November 17, 2009, and the second volume on February 17, 2010. This work is included on the DVD that comes with the first limited editions of the 19th and 20th volumes of the original manga, making it a special content for fans. The OVA format allows for episodes and characters that could not be fully depicted in the TV series to be explored in depth, providing an opportunity for fans of the original manga to discover new charms.

This work is directed by Akiyuki Shinbo and produced by Shaft, once again forming a powerful team. The fusion of Director Shinbo's unique direction and Shaft's animation techniques has resulted in a visually stunning work. In particular, the attention to detail is apparent in the character expressions, movements, and background designs, and while faithfully recreating the worldview of the original work, it also adds unique expressions that are unique to anime.

The story depicts the daily life of Itoshiki Nozomu and his students in class 2, and firmly retains the essence of the original work. Itoshiki Nozomu's hopeless thoughts and the unique characters of the students who react to them intersect to create laughter and emotion. In particular, episodes unique to the OVA, such as "The Intention of the Demonstration," "Fashion is Short, Run Maidens," "Scatter Scatter, Fill," "General Virus and the Three Doctor Brothers," "Mr. God Has Been Streamed Away," and "A World with Words," bring out the charm of the original work to the fullest.

The cast is also impressive, with all the voice actors playing the characters from the original work, including Kamiya Hiroshi as Itoshiki Nozomu, Nonaka Ai as Fuura Kafuka, and Inoue Marina as Kizu Chisato. Their performances bring out the individuality of the characters and leave a deep impression on viewers. The theme songs were also chosen to match the worldview of the original work, and the music can also be enjoyed, with the opening theme "Ringo Mogire Beam!" and the ending songs "Zetsubou Restaurant" and "Kurama Shinju Ai Shisouai".

The lineup of main staff members is also not to be missed. It is a gathering of professionals from various fields, including series composer Tomiyako Higashi and Akiyuki Shinbo, character designer and chief animation director Hideyuki Morioka, and art director Toshiharu Iijima. Through their hands, the charm of the original work has been brought out to the fullest and elevated as an animation.

It is also essential to introduce the main characters. Itoshiki Nozomu is a super negative teacher who thinks negatively about everything that happens, and is known as "Despair Sensei". How does his hopeless thinking affect his students? Kafura Kafura is a super positive girl who thinks positively about everything that happens, and is a character with a radio-like pen name. Kizu Chisato is a girl with a strict and sticky class president personality, and is the captain of the tea ceremony club. Komori Kiri is a reclusive girl who comes to school thanks to Itoshiki Sensei's efforts, but becomes a "school-refusing girl" who stays at home and stays at home. Tsuzuki Matoi is a stalker girl who is fascinated by Itoshiki Sensei and always follows him. Kimura Kaere is a bilingual girl who has returned from overseas, and is a character who has two personalities, an overseas personality and a Japanese personality. Kannai Maria Taro is a girl who illegally entered the school, came to Japan from Asia on a container, and enrolled by buying someone else's attendance number. Koseki Abiru is a bandaged girl who is constantly covered in open wounds, leading her father to suspect her of domestic violence, but in fact she loves animals, and the cause of her injuries was an injury she sustained while playing with one. Hito Nami is an ordinary girl who has a habit of wanting to be treated specially by others, and tries various schemes to attract people's attention, but she never manages to achieve much. Fujiyoshi Harumi is a yaoi doujin girl who loves anime and manga, and whose hobbies are making doujinshi and cosplay. Otonashi Meru is a sharp-tongued email girl who is extremely shy and can only communicate with others through email, but her emails are sharp-tongued. The story woven by these characters is one that fans of the original work cannot miss.

Related works include "Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei", "Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei", "Goku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei", "Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei", and "Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei Blu-ray BOX Commemorative Edition". By watching these works, you can gain a deeper understanding of the worldview of the original work. Also, the release date, distributor, and copyright information of the OVA are important information. The OVA is released by Kodansha, and the copyright belongs to Koji Kumeta, Kodansha/Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei Production Committee.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei Bangaichi is a must-see for fans of the original work, and the animation is extremely well-made. The unique direction by Director Akiyuki Shinbo and Shaft, the all-star cast, and the story that brings out the best of the original work will provide viewers with deep emotion and laughter. The OVA format will allow for in-depth exploration of episodes and characters, which will surely bring new discoveries and joy to fans of the original work. Please watch this work and enjoy the story of despair and hope of Itoshiki Nozomu and the students of Class 2-He.
