On May 3, according to CCTV reports, as of midnight today, this year's "May Day" movie box office has exceeded 880 million yuan.

This year's "May Day" schedule has also been called the "most crowded May Day schedule in history" by the outside world, with 13 films, a high number and mainly domestic films. On April 30, five films, "Your Wedding", "On the Cliff", "Ice and Snow Wars", "Running to the Sea" and "When Love Comes", were released.

On May 1, "Secret Visitor", "Sweeping Black: The Final Battle", "Chasing Tigers and Capturing Dragons", "Sunny Robbers", "Dynasty Warriors", "Pig Man Movie: Dinosaur Diaries", "Searching for Man", and "Dinosaur Rides" followed closely.

On the same day, five old films were re-screened: "The Most Lovely People", "Qian Xuesen", "Dong Cunrui", "Yang Shanzhou" and "The Days Away from Lei Feng".

The top three films in the current box office are: "Your Wedding", "On the Cliff", and "Secret Visitor". Although the box office of "On the Cliff" in the first three days of its release was lower than that of its rival "Your Wedding", the rising figures and the narrowing gap mean that this spy war story directed by Zhang Yimou may surpass it today.

In addition, compared with this year's Spring Festival, movie ticket prices have fallen during this year's May Day period, and the average pre-sale ticket prices for many films are below 40 yuan.

It is worth mentioning that from 2015 to 2019 before the outbreak of the epidemic, the May Day box office showed a steady growth year by year, among which the box office share and audience reputation of domestic films have significantly increased.
