A man from an island country was prosecuted for selling famous anime T-shirts without permission

Japan is world-renowned for its strict control over intellectual property rights, but there are always people who want to test the law. According to Japanese media reports today, on January 26, the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Zushi Station announced that it had filed a lawsuit on the 25th against a 35-year-old man who was suspected of violating intellectual property laws by selling well-known anime T-shirts without authorization.

According to the police, the 35-year-old man reprinted the image of the popular character Tsushima Yoshiko from the well-known animation "LoveLive!" on a T-shirt on October 26, 2019, and sold it online for 2,850 yen. The police also found and confiscated other T-shirts of the well-known animation "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" and other T-shirts suspected of being resold in his home.
