The spin-off series "Dexter: Resurrection" announced the return of the male lead of the series

Showtime obviously won't be giving up on the "Dexter" series anytime soon.

At the recent San Diego Comic-Con, Showtime brought two blockbuster news: a new series of Dexter, Dexter: Resurrection, in which the male lead of the series, Michael C. Hall, will continue to play the killer Dexter Morgan. At the same time, Hall will also voice the young version of Dexter Morgan in the previously announced origin series, Dexter: Original Sin.

Hall, who is also an executive producer on the series, made the announcement at Comic-Con himself, appearing alongside executive producer and writer Clyde Phillips at the Dexter: Original Sin booth, which is currently in production.

“We are thrilled to have the talented Michael C. Hall return to his iconic role as Dexter Morgan on Showtime’s most successful series ever,” said Chris McCarthy, Paramount Worldwide Co-CEO and President of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, in a statement. “Dexter: Resurrection will have attracted tens of millions of devoted fans, and Dexter: Original Sin will introduce a whole new generation of viewers to this iconic series by telling the story from the beginning, while also satisfying existing audiences.”

Originally announced in February 2023 as Dexter, the series is Paramount's move to double down on its series. We don't know much about the show, except that it's set in the '90s.

"Original Sin" and "Resurrection" will be the second and third spin-offs of the "Dexter" series. The original series premiered in 2006 and aired for eight seasons; "Dexter: Resurrection" aired in 2021.
