Depp injured while filming Pirates of the Caribbean 5, Disney loses $4.9 million

According to foreign media The Hollywood Reporter, according to trial testimony, at some point during the filming of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," Depp allegedly swallowed eight ecstasy pills at once and then launched a "campaign of terror" against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Testimony showed that the incident ultimately led to the cutting off of Depp's fingertips, and then Depp was sent back to Los Angeles for surgery. The production of the film was stopped for two weeks, and the accident cost Disney about $350,000 a day (about $4.9 million for 14 days, about RMB 32 million). Depp said the injury was caused by Amber Heard throwing a bottle of wine at him.

Johnny Depp had previously taken The Sun to court, claiming that an article published in 2018 by the newspaper described Depp as a "wife beater" and was defamatory. However, a High Court judge ruled that the allegation was "substantially true" and declared that Depp "did assault Ms. Heard." According to Deadline, Depp said at the time: "The surreal judgment of the British court will not change my determination to tell the truth, and I confirm that I will appeal in the future."

Since then, Depp has resigned from the role of Grindelwald in Warner's new product "Fantastic Beasts 3". Later, the role was played by "Uncle Pull" Mads Mikkelsen, but because Depp signed a performance contract with the production company, Depp asked the production company to pay him an eight-figure salary.
