Netflix's new animation "Yasuke" character design Japan's only black samurai

Today (October 27), Netflix released the character design of its new animation "Yasuke", in which the black samurai Yasuke and Oda Nobunaga appear. The film is produced by MAPPA, LeSean Thomas is the producer, and Lakeith Stanfield ("Atlanta", "Get Out") voices the only black samurai Yasuke in Japan. It will be broadcast next spring.

The anime Yasuke is described as "A village in danger, a mysterious child, a hostile daimyo, a great ronin unknown to the world...collision in a Japan full of magic and mecha."

Previously, "Black Panther" Chadwick Boseman was also confirmed to star in the new action film "Yasuke" with Yasuke as the protagonist, but with Boseman's death, the current status of the project is unknown.

According to historical records, Yasuke was born in Mozambique in 1556 and died in an unknown year. He was taken to Japan as a slave of Jesuit missionaries in the 16th century. He was the first black person to set foot in Japan and attracted the attention of Oda Nobunaga, becoming a famous black samurai in Japanese history.
