"No Time to Die" and "Dune" poor quality 3D conversions boycotted by domestic audiences

According to the official Weibo account of @中国电影报导, two Hollywood blockbusters, "No Time to Die" and "Dune", have been released in China recently. While they have reaped huge box office revenues, their poor 3D conversions and large number of 3D screenings have caused dissatisfaction among domestic audiences, who have begun to boycott Hollywood's inferior 3D conversions.

Recently, a picture of "boycott 3D version of Dune" has caused heated discussion online. The 3D version of "No Time to Die" which was just released has also been boycotted, because the 007 series has been 2D movies for more than 60 years. The core of the boycott by netizens is "post-production 3D conversion". These two movies were shot in 2D standards when they were created, but suddenly there were 3D versions after they were released. Some viewers said that the viewing experience was very poor, and "poor quality 3D conversion" became a point of criticism.

Director Zhang Xiaobei said that he had a headache after watching "Dune" wearing 3D glasses. Zhang Xiaobei also said that similar to "No Time to Die", the action blockbuster "Jason Bourne" was also converted to 3D when it was released in China, which made the audience uncomfortable. Especially this kind of action movie with thousands of shots edited quickly is not suitable for 3D conversion, which will make the audience feel dizzy. Photographer Cao Yu said that 3D filtered out the original retro colors of the movie. Movie directors like to use highlights to express emotions, but 3D makes the highlights in the movie feel very flat.

Like photographer Cao Yu, many viewers are dissatisfied with the 3D movies converted later and want to watch the 2D version, but most cinemas do not have 2D options and are forced to watch 3D.
