Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13, Pavarotti) will direct a biopic about pianist Lang Lang. AGC Studios will invest and produce with Howard's company Imagine Entertainment. Michelle Mulroney & Kieran Mulroney (Paper Figures, Sherlock Holmes 2) will write the screenplay, based on Lang Lang's autobiography A Thousand Miles: My Story, and will be shot in China and the United States. This biopic will focus on Lang Lang's life starting from his childhood in Shenyang. "He is hailed as one of the best classical pianists, and his dramatic playing style is loved by people. However, the road to success has never been smooth. His childhood was affected by the breakdown of his parents' marriage and the unstable financial situation of his family. Later, he went to the Curtis Institute of Music in the United States and studied under Gary Graffman. He also embarked on a professional career adventure and has performed in the Vatican, the Grammys, and the 2008 Beijing Olympics." Howard and longtime producing partner Brian Grazer said: "Lang Lang's story is about determination, passion, sacrifice and the inner strength to overcome difficulties. This film is a bridge between two cultures, with a common truth about the challenges we face in the pursuit of excellence. Howard expects to start filming the film after completing his new film "13 Lives". "Dream big, work hard and always believe in yourself," Lang Lang said in a statement. "Thanks to Ron Howard's vision, this film will inspire young people around the world to follow their dreams and never forget that they are one in a million." |
