Kyoto Animation holds livestream memorial event for arson incident

Today (July 18) marks the one-year anniversary of the arson attack at Kyoto Animation's first animation studio in July 2019. Kyoto Animation held a live memorial service on its official YouTube channel from 9:30 to 9:40 Beijing time today (with silent prayer starting at 9:35).

Live video of the memorial service:

According to an official announcement on Kyoto Animation's official website, a memorial service venue was originally planned to be set up to allow everyone to express their feelings, but as the current epidemic situation is still unstable, this plan was cancelled to avoid crowds gathering.

In addition to thanking everyone for their kindness and declining all physical offerings, the official also hopes that everyone will try not to go to the vicinity of the First Animation Studio where the incident occurred, and pointed out that no one should enter the hinterland of the First Animation Studio without permission. Non-local residents should not park their vehicles or bicycles nearby, place flowers or food nearby, or use fire, take videos or photos, or wander or stand nearby for a long time. We hope that everyone can cooperate and understand these behaviors to avoid causing trouble to traffic-related units and nearby residents.
