Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie director: sequel not yet in development

The live-action adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog was a huge success, grossing over $210 million worldwide in 10 days. However, according to director Jeff Fowler, a sequel to the film is not currently in development.

Recently, Jeff Fowler confirmed to foreign media USA Today that a sequel to the "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie is not in development, but he himself is also willing to return to the world of Sonic and expand it into a complete movie universe.

"There are still a lot of great characters out there that can be added and a lot of stories that can be told, but there's nothing that would give me more satisfaction than to do one more. We'd love to do more in the Sonic Cinematic Universe."

Tails' appearance at the end of the "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie made the audience think that there might be a sequel, but due to the epidemic and other reasons, Paramount has not yet made a clear statement.

Sonic the Hedgehog has grossed over $306 million worldwide and is now available on Amazon Prime and other VOD services. The film will also be released on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on May 19.
