Mad Max: Fury Road prequel to start filming in 2021

According to Variety, "Mad Max: Fury Road" director George Miller plans to shoot a series of spin-off films focusing on the female character Furiosa played by Charlize Theron in "Fury Road".

Variety reported that George Miller plans to start filming a prequel to Furiosa in 2021. He is currently looking for a female lead for the film. Among the many actresses he has contacted is Anya Taylor-Joy, who starred in "X-Men: New Mutants".

Earlier, shortly after the release of Mad Max: Fury Road, George Miller had discussed plans for a Furiosa spin-off and another Mad Max sequel. Later, in 2017, George Miller sued Warner Bros., which led to the bleak prospects of the two films. Now it seems that there is good new progress.

In 2017, George Miller said that another film in the Mad Max cinematic universe could explore the character of Furiosa more.

“She’s such a compelling character, so it was fun to tell her story. She has a really interesting backstory, and we only touched on it a little bit in Mad Max: Fury Road. The movie is so fast-paced, so people don’t have a lot of time to chat about it. You can tell she’s been through a lot, and that’s what the movie is trying to tell you.”
