Rumor has it that the Call of Duty movie has been shelved indefinitely by Activision

In 2018, Activision Blizzard invited Stefano Sollima, the director of Sicario 2, to direct the Call of Duty movie, but we haven't heard any news about this movie for a long time. According to foreign media reports, the Call of Duty movie has been shelved indefinitely by Activision officials.

Director Sollima shared some details on a podcast on an Italian website. According to Sollima, Scott Silver, the screenwriter of last year's movie "Joker", wrote the script for the "Call of Duty" movie. However, Activision's plan to expand "Call of Duty" from games to movies has been terminated and is no longer a top priority within the company. Therefore, the movie itself has also fallen into an unresolved state.

Sollima said that such suspensions are common in the American film industry, and his work on the "Call of Duty" movie project is still in limbo.

Plot details for the Call of Duty movie adaptation have never been made public, but it has been reported that Activision insists on not adapting existing stories. Director Sollima once said that his plan is to "betray the structure of video games" and create an excellent movie. In an interview with SlashFilm in 2018, Sollima mentioned that he wanted to tell "a soldier's story", but it was different from a traditional war movie.
