Birds of Prey officially changed its name due to poor box office performance, but only on ticketing websites

Recently, AMC and Regal and other ticket websites changed the title of "Birds of Prey and Harley Quinn" to "Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey", which caused heated discussions. In response, Warner Bros. responded that this move was to expand the search of ticket sites to make it easier for people to find the film. Putting Harley Quinn in the main position can make people who want to watch the movie understand what "Birds of Prey" is about.

The English title of this film is very long, "Birds of Prey And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn". Many ticketing sites usually only write "Birds Of Prey". Obviously, the reputation of Birds of Prey is not as big as Harley Quinn, so Warner Bros. temporarily decided to do search engine optimization (SEO) to attract more people to watch the movie.

Despite good reviews, the film did not perform well at the box office, with only $33.01 million in North America in its first weekend and less than $80 million worldwide in its first weekend, far below expectations. According to industry insiders, from marketing to trailers to the title decision, the film was a disaster, which was bound to have a domino effect and lead to poor box office performance.

Some media compared this film to "X-Men: Dark Phoenix". "Dark Phoenix" removed the name of X-Men in North America, so many ordinary people did not know that this was the last film in the X-Men series. "Dark Phoenix" was also criticized for its marketing, and its poor reputation caused the box office to collapse completely.

Birds of Prey: The Return of Harley Quinn also encountered similar problems. First of all, Harley Quinn's popularity is comparable to that of famous DC characters such as Wonder Woman, but the film's main theme is Birds of Prey, which puzzled many industry insiders. Not only that, the film was rated R in North America, but it never released a red trailer like Deadpool and The Boys, and such marketing was also considered a "failure" by industry insiders.

Fortunately, Warner Bros. has saved the film through SEO, and there are not many competitive films in the next few weeks, so "Harley Quinn" still has a chance to do well at the box office.
