Harrison Ford returns to Indiana Jones 5, the new film is a sequel, not a reboot

The long-awaited "Indiana Jones 5" has not been on track for several years. However, after the screenwriter David Koepp was confirmed to write the script in September last year, the film has made substantial progress. Recently, there are media reports that "Indiana Jones 5" will be a sequel, not a "reboot" as generally believed by the outside world.

The film's producer Kathleen Kennedy said: "We are still working on the script, but we are ready. Harrison Ford will return to the crew. Moreover, this will be a sequel, not a reboot." In June 2018, the producers removed David Koepp from the list of screenwriters and replaced him with Jonathan Kasdan, the screenwriter of "Solo".

A year later, with no progress on the script, David Koepp returned to the screenwriter's position. According to David Koepp, he is currently "working, hoping to have a good story this time, wait and see". However, due to the script, the film has not yet been scheduled for filming, so the film's original planned release date in 2020 cannot be completed as scheduled. The specific reason for changing the screenwriter is that director Steven Spielberg and the producers are not satisfied with the current script. Moreover, Spielberg is also busy filming "West Side Story" and has no time to take care of this film.

However, Harrison Ford, who plays Jones, is old and in poor physical condition, so he must withdraw from the "Indiana Jones" series in a "decent way". As for who will take over Dr. Jones' class in the future, there is no certainty yet. Star-Lord Chris Pratt, who has developed very well in the past two years, has great box office appeal, a good figure and experience in shooting action movies, and can also handle action comedies. More importantly, "Guardians of the Galaxy" itself is a film that pays tribute to the "Indiana Jones" series. From this point of view, in the future, Pratt is the best candidate to play Jones Boss. According to Disney's plan last year, the film will be released on July 9, 2021.
