This is a theme of The Witcher series of novels, but it is not the story told in the first season of the TV series. "In the book and at the beginning of our TV series, there's a lot of talk about how humans hate demon hunters, but humans still need demon hunters, and that's the problem," explained Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, producer of The Witcher. "A lot of times you need something you hate. We need this hatred in the TV series to make the audience understand why our hero is an outsider. So we decided to make these monsters appear more in front of us in these thirty years of stories."
