Movies and TV series adapted from games are entering a new era of both critical and commercial success, so more and more games are officially announced to be adapted into live-action movies or TV series. Last December, the Death Stranding movie was officially announced. The movie will be produced by Alex Lebovici, the producer of Savage, and Hideo Kojima, the creator and director of Death Stranding. But what role will Hideo Kojima play in this project? Kojima recently spoke about this topic on Twitter, confirming that he will be deeply involved in the Death Stranding movie, but will not serve as director. He said: "To clarify, I was deeply involved in the production, supervision, planning, look, design and content of the Death Stranding film adaptation, I was just not directing." It is not yet clear who will be directing the film, and details about the casting have not yet been announced. Last year, shortly after the film adaptation was announced, Hideo Kojima said that he and Alex Lebovici were not planning to make a big-budget blockbuster, and instead wanted to take a "more art-house approach." At the same time, Hideo Kojima Studio is currently working on Death Stranding 2, which is being developed for the PS5 and may be released in 2024. |
