Godzilla vs. Kong 3 is in production, Shang-Chi's screenwriter joins

Legendary Pictures' Monster Universe was originally expected to continue with sequels after "Godzilla vs. Kong: A New Empire", but today we finally got the exact news.

According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), Dave Callaham, the screenwriter of the MCU movie Shang-Chi, will write the script for the sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong. Interestingly, this is not the first time Callaham has teamed up with everyone's favorite reptile monster, as he also participated in the screenwriting of the 2014 Godzilla movie directed by Gareth Edwards.

The Hollywood Reporter pointed out that Callahan is known for his expertise in action film scripts, and his recent works include "Spider-Man: Across the Universe", "Mortal Kombat", "Wonder Woman 1984" and rewriting the 2015 film "Ant-Man". He is also involved in the screenwriting of the upcoming live-action film "He-Man: The Cosmic Giant", which is scheduled to be released on June 5, 2026.

It's unclear if Godzilla vs. Kong 2 director Adam Wingard will return for the sequel. According to THR, Wingard is not signed on yet, and he wants to make an original film called Onslaught, which could complicate matters. However, Legendary Pictures reportedly wants to continue its partnership with the director, who also directed 2021's Godzilla vs. Kong.
