New Mad Max movie in production set a year before Mad Max: Fury Road

A new Mad Max movie is in the works, set a year before the 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road. Director George Miller wrote the story and hopes to adapt it into a screenplay.

The prequel to Mad Max 4: Fury Road, Mad Max: Fury of the Gods, will be released in North America on May 24 this year. The film is directed and written by George Miller, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth and others.

Mad Max 4: Fury Road is a 2015 American-Australian post-apocalyptic science fiction action film. It is the fourth film and sequel to the Mad Max series. The first three films were released in 1979, 1981, and 1985, respectively, and George Miller, the director of the first three films, continued to direct. The protagonist Mad Max was changed from Mel Gibson to Tom Hardy, and other starring actors include Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Baron, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough, Zoe Kravitz, Abby Lee Kershaw, and Courtney Eaton.

The story is set in a world after the collapse of human civilization. There is no rule of law and mercy, and water and oil are precious resources. Mad Max, a former highway patrolman whose wife and children were killed by villains, wanders alone in this post-apocalyptic world. At this time, he meets Furiosa and others who are determined to take the five wives and concubines of the dictatorial warlord Immortal Joe away. Max initially refuses to help them, but in the face of Immortal Joe's military force, he has to cooperate with each other. The film was released by Warner Bros. and premiered at the Chinese Theater in Los Angeles on May 7, 2015, and was screened in the non-competition unit of the 68th Cannes Film Festival on May 14, and officially released on May 15.
