Director: "Joker" was killed by a double-standard dog-protecting maniac 3, and no one complained

Todd Phillips, the director of Joker, responded to the question of "the film may cause real violence". He said that Joker was double-standardized, and no one had such doubts about John Wick 3, in which "a white man killed 300 people" . He emphasized that the Aurora shooting tragedy that occurred when The Dark Knight Rises was released had nothing to do with the movie itself. The movie is about fictional characters in a fictional world, not promoting violence in the real world.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Phillips was asked if he understood people's fears that some of the victims' families in the Aurora shooting were worried that the release of Joker might lead to another shooting. Phillips said: "Aurora was a terrible, terrible situation, but even that incident you don't blame the movie itself. To be honest, about the Aurora incident, if you do a little research, the gentleman was not "doing it as a Joker" as the false reports said. His hair was dyed red, he obviously had psychological problems, and there was something terrible about it. But except that it happened in a movie theater, it has nothing to do with the movie. This is not what Joker itself represents.

"This movie takes place in a fictional world, and it can touch on the real world and real ideas, but this movie is about a fictional character in a fictional world that's been around for 80 years. What annoys me more is the toxic white male attitude when you say, 'Oh, I just saw John Wick 3.' He's a white dude who killed 300 people, and everyone in the audience was laughing and yelling and screaming. Why should this movie be held to a different standard? It doesn't make sense to me, honestly."
