The live-action version of "The Lion King" sets a new record for first-day pre-sales of all Disney remakes

According to foreign media reports, although Disney's new live-action movie "The Lion King" will not be released until July 19, this new version of the classic animation that is loved by the audience has broken the record. Fandango US movie box office website announced on Tuesday local time that the movie has become a new record holder for the first day pre-sale of traditional Disney films.

Not only that, but pre-sales for The Lion King have already surpassed those of all other Disney remakes so far, and it's on track to become the second-best pre-sale film on Fandango this year, after Avengers: Endgame.

In the first 24 hours since tickets for "The Lion King" went on sale on Fandango on Monday, the ticketing company has learned that pre-sales for the film have surpassed those of Disney's previous live-action adaptations of "Beauty and the Beast," "Aladdin," "The Jungle Book" -- and last week's "Toy Story 4."

The Lion King is the most anticipated family film of the summer, ” said Fandango Executive Editor Erik Davis of presale records. “ A stellar cast, groundbreaking effects, a slew of songs everyone knows by heart, and a talented director with a vision are the secrets to (this film) warming hearts and breaking records.

Right now, the most popular Disney live-action movies are ranked as follows in the first-day pre-sale rankings on Fandango:

1. The Lion King (2019)

2. Beauty and the Beast (2017)

3. Aladdin (2019)

Here are some of the findings from a Fandango survey of more than 1,000 Lion King ticket buyers:

97% are fans of the original 1994 film;

95% were excited about how The Lion King incorporated the original film’s iconic score into the film;

82% are fans of the voice actors;

73% are fans of recent Disney live-action adaptations.
