The Japan Cartoonists Association Award is an authoritative manga award that began in 1972. It aims to recognize and select the most influential and outstanding new manga. This year is the 48th award. The judges include Tomoko Satonaka and Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, veterans of the manga industry. The winner of this year's award is the popular manga "That! Stardust" by Sansuke Yamada.

Other important awards include the Excellence Award for "Towards the Sunset" by Saito Nazuna, and the Special Contribution Award for "Chibi Maruko-chan" by Sakurako.
