The global box office revenue is good, and the sequel of "Shazam!" has been confirmed by DC

According to Deadline, after opening with $159 million last weekend, Shazam! broke the 200 million RMB mark in China alone on the 3rd. So it is not surprising that DC and New Line Cinema are filming a sequel to Shazam!

Now the sequel to "Shazam!" has been confirmed. The first screenwriter Henry Gayden will continue to write the sequel. The story of the sequel will be adapted from the comic works of Bill Parker and CC Peck's. Director David F. Sandberg and producer Peter Safran are also expected to return in the sequel.

Well-known media Film Finance believes that "Shazam!" should continue to perform strongly for a few weeks before "Avengers 4: Endgame" is released on April 26 (April 24 in mainland China). Although the production cost of "Shazam!" is as high as 102 million US dollars, it is not surprising that "Shazam!" is still an IP that brings hope of making money to Warner.

"Shazam!" is very similar to Marvel's "Ant-Man" series. It is DC's first film to transform its superhero characters into family-friendly movies. But whether it can be as successful as the two "Ant-Man" movies depends on what different highlights this "Shazam!" sequel will bring to fans.
