IDW renews Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics license ahead of 40th anniversary

Publisher IDW Publishing went through some changes in 2023 as Hasbro transferred the licenses for the G.I. Joe and Transformers series to Skybound Entertainment.

However, in early 2024, IDW still received some good news. It renewed the comic book license for the first edition of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" with Paramount, which coincided with the 40th anniversary of the birth of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" in 1984.

“The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are iconic, part of comic book history, and I’m honored to continue publishing their adventures during this landmark year,” IDW co-publisher Mark Doyle said in a statement.

Although the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" series has not been able to shine in the film and television fields due to copyright issues, it was announced last year that a 3A game adapted from the acclaimed manga "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin" is in production, and the sequel to the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin" manga will be officially released on March 6 this year.
