'Loki' screenwriter to write 'Avengers 5 and 6'

Avengers 5 has found a new screenwriter, although the rest of the film is still up in the air. According to Deadline, Michael Waldron, the screenwriter of the first season of Loki, will write for Avengers 5, replacing the previous screenwriter Jeff Loveness (Ant-Man 3). IGN has confirmed from a source close to the producers that Michael Waldron will serve as the screenwriter for both Avengers 5 and Avengers 6.

Marvel Cinematic Universe: Reign of Marvel Studios screenwriter Joanna Robinson recently said on the R House Podcast that Loveness is no longer working with Marvel because he was "constrained" by Marvel's original plans for Kang. Loveness is the screenwriter of Ant-Man 3, in which Kang plays a very prominent role. IGN has heard that Loveness has written a draft of the script, but it's unclear how much of it will be used.

Last week, the original director of "Avengers 5" Destin Daniel Cretton announced his withdrawal. Due to the fact that Kang, the actor Majors, was suspected of domestic violence and other cases, it was once rumored that Marvel had considered using Doctor Doom to replace the villain Kang.

Due to the postponement of the sixth phase of the MCU, "Avengers 5" is currently scheduled to be released on May 1, 2026.
