Warner Bros. cast an "undying curse" on Fantastic Beasts. Director David Yates has provided an update on the troubled franchise, which has been halted after three of its planned five films. "With Fantastic Beasts, everything came to a standstill. We got to the end of the third movie, and we were all so proud of that movie, and as it went out into the world, we needed to stop, pause, and relax." Yates said the whole idea of a five-part series was not the studio's idea at all, and that the original plan was for three films. He said that writer JK Rowling announced the five-part series at a press conference for the first film, 2016's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, without most of the creative team knowing. |
