Shinji Aoba, the suspect in the Kyoto Animation incident who spent a fortune on government medical resources and has now largely recovered, spoke about his motives before the arson during his trial today, September 19. He said he was shocked by the animation of Haruhi Suzumiya and was inspired to write the novel.

In the past police hearings, Shinji Aoba had repeatedly stated that "the idea of ​​the novel was stolen by Kyoto Animation" and "I started writing the novel after watching Kyoto Animation's animation."
