2019 sci-fi drama "Little Joe" officially scheduled for release in mainland China

The 2019 sci-fi drama film "Little Joe" is officially scheduled to be released in mainland China on December 2, and will be screened exclusively by the Art Alliance. The film is directed by Austrian director Jessica Hausner and stars Emily Beecham and Ben Whishaw.

Alice is a hard-working single mother and senior plant breeder at a company that develops new plant varieties. She has designed a very special dark red flower that is not only striking in appearance, but also has outstanding health benefits: if it is kept at the right temperature, fed properly, and talked to regularly, the plant will make its owner happy. Against company policy, Alice takes one home as a gift for her teenage son, Joe. They name the flower "Little Joe." But as the flower grows, Alice becomes increasingly suspicious that "Little Joe" may not be as innocent as its name suggests.

"Little Joe" was shortlisted for the main competition unit of the 72nd Cannes International Film Festival, and the leading actress Emily Beecham won the Best Actress Award.
