According to Korean media reports, actor Bian Xifeng, who had often collaborated with Bong Joon-ho and starred in "Memories of Murder", "The Host" and "Okja", died of pancreatic cancer on September 18 at the age of 81. Bian Xifeng (also translated as Bian Xifeng) was born in South Korea on June 8, 1942. He graduated from the Law Department of Chosun University and is an honorary member of the Korean Dubbing Association. In 1966, he officially appeared on MBC TV as a dubbing voice. He participated in the troupe "Mountains and Rivers", the drama "Dali People" and "Cats in the Soil" for 10 years. In 1985, he won the Popularity Award at the 21st Baeksang Art Awards. In 2000, Bian Xifeng starred in director Bong Joon-ho's debut feature film "Dogs at the Door", and then starred in "Memories of Murder", "The Host" and "Okja". In each of his films, he played not ordinary, submissive characters, but violent or funny ones, which left a deep impression on the audience. In 2019, Bian Xifeng was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. His condition was under control for a while, but the cancer recurred this year and he passed away on September 18 after unsuccessful treatment. |
