Jim Carrey Confirms He'd Return in Sonic the Hedgehog 4

In a recent interview with the Japanese YouTube channel "Cinema Today", Jim Carrey, the famous actor who played Dr. Eggman in "Sonic the Hedgehog", confirmed that he is willing to return to play the role in future "Sonic", including the next movie.

"I'm definitely open to it," he said of returning. "I'm open to the idea and generally speaking, they come to me with the next idea and if I think, 'That's interesting,' then I'll come back. I don't want to be tied down in my life by anything unless it's something I'm interested in."

He also said that the reason he keeps returning to the series is mainly due to the film's creative team and Sonic's fans: "I really like this crew, I like the people who make these movies, and I like the fans. There is a lot of great energy around the movie, a good response, and fans often ask 'Can you do this?' I think they are very helpful. I think we are making this movie together."

He played two roles in Sonic 3. When asked several times why he came out of retirement, he joked that he needed to make money - which was probably not entirely a joke. But after the movie was released, he seemed to have decided to give up retirement for good.

"Sonic the Hedgehog 3" will be released in domestic theaters on January 10, 2025.
