Disney's chief diversity officer resigns over failure to lead inclusion program

In recent years, Disney's films have increasingly disappointed general audiences. In the pursuit of modern trends and inclusiveness, Disney seems to have lost its way.

According to foreign media reports recently, Disney's Chief Diversity Officer and Senior Vice President Latondra Newton has resigned. She began serving as Disney Group's Chief Diversity Officer and Chief Human Resources Officer in 2017, leading Disney's strategic diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

Latondra Newton's resignation may be due to the box office and reputation failure of the live-action movie "The Little Mermaid", and the failure of many non-binary characters promoted by Marvel movies in recent years. Due to her decision, Disney lost about $890 million on recent movies, and the company only recovered $1.86 billion of the $2.75 billion it spent on making these movies.

Analysts pointed out that with Newton's departure, Disney's policy may change, no longer forcing diversity? Their new projects will focus on quality.
