The most outrageous scene in 2024 was in a movie that few people watched

The eerie silence punctuated by a few squeaky screams in the movie Kraven the Hunter is one of the most bizarre movie moments of 2024, and it deserves to be seen by more people.

Kraven the Hunter is Sony's latest Spider-Man spinoff to hit the big screen. It's also one of the worst box office failures of 2024, which is pretty remarkable in a year like the terrible Borderlands adaptation and the much-forgotten remake of The Crow. But because not many people have actually seen Kraven the Hunter, the weirdest 20 seconds of 2024's cinema have mostly gone unnoticed.

First, here's the short scene in question. A little background: The guy with the backpack is (or will be) "Rhino," and he's pissed off after getting some bad news from one of his men.

Everything about this clip is just right. The bland set-pieces, the lackluster dialogue, the ridiculously small backpack for the guy, and of course the hissing but mostly silent scream followed by the awkward silence.

So what’s going on here? Maybe this is how the actor wanted the character to scream at that moment? Or maybe the director said, “Just a weird, quiet scream, that’s it!”

One popular view online is that this hodgepodge of a blockbuster, rushed out in December with little marketing, may not have been scrutinized by many. Perhaps on set, the actor was told to fake a scream, with a little squeak in the process, with the intention of adding a shout later in post-production. This would help preserve his voice during busy shooting days. But then, someone uh… forgot to add the scream in post-production.

Whatever the reasoning or thinking behind it, the result is the most bizarre movie sequence of 2024, and it’s a shame it’s buried in the middle of a bland, terrible movie called Kraven the Hunter that no one wants to see.
