Albert Pine, director of 1990's Captain America, dies at 69

Albert Pine, the sci-fi film director who directed many beloved films including Journey to the Center of the Earth, Tomorrow and Thunder, died on Saturday at the age of 69.

His death was announced by his wife Cynthia Conan on social media, who said he died in Las Vegas after suffering from dementia and multiple sclerosis for many years.

Born in Hawaii into a military family, Pine has worked with many stars in his 40-year film career, including Jean-Claude Van Damme, Christopher Lambert and Burt Reynolds, as well as with Snoop Dogg, Charlie Sheen and Ice-T.

He knew more than 20 movies in the 1990s, including 1990's "Captain America."

On Twitter, Van Dam said: "It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I want to say goodbye. R.I.P. Albert Pine."
